Into injury time across the Premier League...

Time for some late drama? Burnley keeper Tom Heaton does superbly to parry a Patrick van Aanholt strike onto the woodwork.

16:48
Aston Villa 0-3 Arsenal

It really is going well for Arsenal this afternoon. Even Lukas Podolski has his shinpads on him today (unliked at Dortmund) as he replaces Welbeck. This game has been over for a long time though.

Aston Villa assistant manger Roy Keane speaks with the fourth official at Villa Park as his team trailed Arsenal
16:46
From Sportsmail's Craig Hope at St James' Park

'Well, I said it was too late for Papiss Cisse to rescue Alan Pardew. I was wrong. The forgotten man of St James’ Park has come from the bench to somehow salvage what looks like a point for United with a poacher’s double. Can they win it?!'

16:42
GOAL! NEWCASTLE 2-2 Hull

Well, well, well - hope for Pardew! Yoan Gouffran nods the ball down for Papiss Cisse who slams home a dramatic equaliser. The Newcastle boss punched the air in delight but can his side grab a winner?

16:39
GOAL! Swansea 0-1 SOUTHAMPTON

Ten minutes left and Southampton finally make the pressure count. Victor Wanyama scores his first goal for the club, dancing in the box and poking home at the far post following a pass from Graziano Pelle.

16:37
From Sportsmail's Riath Al-Samarrai at the Liberty Stadium

'Southampton have been extremely impressive this season, but this is a pretty poor performance from them. With the extra man, they have so far lacked the wit to cause any real problems.'

Southampton player Graziano Pelle (left) attempts a volley on the Swansea goal
16:37
Burnley 0-0 Sunderland

As well as Swansea, we are still looking for a breakthrough at Turf Moor. Lukas Jutkiewicz goes mighty close for Burnley, but he sees his effort well saved by Vito Mannone.

16:33
From Sportsmail's Chris Wheeler at Turf Moor

'Sunderland search for the breakthrough as Gus Poyet makes a double substitution, sending on Jozy Altidore and Jordi Gomez but still no sign of a goal at Turf Moor.

'The home side appeal for a penalty after Emanuele Giaccherini and Lukas Jutkiewicz collide.

'The Italian, in particular, takes a rather dramatic tumble. Will somebody tell him that he’s in his own penalty box?'

16:29
GOAL! NEWCASTLE 1-2 Hull

Hang on, it's not over yet! It's brownie points for Pardew as his substitute has helped lead a response. Papiss Cisse fired home at the near post from a Cheick Tiote pass before revealing a shirt in support of Jonas Gutierrez.

Papiss Cisse celebrates with manager Alan Pardew after pulling a goal back for Newcastle
16:29
From Sportsmail's Craig Hope at St James' Park

'Alan Pardew has turned to Papiss Demba Cisse to rescue his toothless side, but after Mo Diame’s stunner to make it 2-0 it’s probably far too late.

'The Senegal striker has not featured since suffering a broken kneecap last season but, prior to that injury, he had scored just four times.]

'The chants for Pardew to go have spread, ‘Taxi for Pardew’ now their choice of put-down.'

16:24
GOAL! Newcastle 0-2 HULL

When your luck is down it's really down, isn't it Alan?. There is really very little a defence can do to stop some goals, and Mohamed Diame has just shown proof of it by crashing home a superb 25 yard strike.

Papiss Cisse, back from injury, is on for the hosts, replacing Emmanuel Riviere, but this will take some comeback from the Toon now.

16:24
Aston Villa 0-3 Arsenal

I think we used up the allotted amount of action inside four minutes at Villa Park this afternoon. Little has happened in the second period as Wojciech Szczesny collects a deflected Cissokho cross.

16:20
From Sportsmail's Riath Al-Samarrai at the Liberty Stadium

'Dyer subbed off after 59 minutes - if he gets an England call-up it won't be for what happened today.'

Swansea City's Nathan Dyer (right) challenges Southampton's Ryan Bertrand
16:19
Newcastle 0-1 Hull

Newcastle had responded well since falling behind but they could so easily be 2-0 down.

A Hull free-kick into the penalty box finds Stephen Quinn who somehow buries his shot off target.

16:17
Swansea 0-0 Southampton

Southampton are taking the game to the 10 men of Swansea now, and go close to taking the lead.

Dusan Tadic cuts inside from the left before his shot deflects off Nathan Dyer and onto the roof of the net.

16:15
A first of the season at Newcastle - a strange one at that
16:13
From Sportsmail's Craig Hope at St James' Park

'Alan Pardew needs his players now. The fans have not turned against the team and only a smattering of them have chanted for the manager to be sacked.

'Still, though, they’ll be demanding a response to falling behind – can this group of players find that spirit and resolve? It will be the first time we’ve seen it this season if so.'

Nikica Jelavic celebrates firing Hull ahead at Newcastle thanks to his tremendous volley
16:12
Newcastle 0-1 Hull

Newcastle should be level. Mike Williamson rolls the ball into the path of Remy Cabella, who with fantastic chance to score from inside the box can only fire straight at Allan McGregor. How's your luck Mr. Pardew?

16:10
From Sportsmail's Chris Wheeler at Turf Moor

'Who can come up with that moment of inspiration to snatch a first victory of the season, Burnley or Sunderland?

'At the moment it’s neither. Burnley have just about shaded but there has been precious little to set the pulse racing. Both teams have attacking options on the bench, but will either be brave enough to go for it?'

16:09
From OptaJoe
16:04
GOAL! Newcastle 0-1 HULL

I don't think I've seen Nikica Jelavic score something as stunning as this since his Everton days!

The Hull striker gives the Tigers the lead after superbly dispatching a scissors kick near the penalty spot following a cross from Elmohamady. The pressure will be piling on Pardew now.

Away we go again in the SECOND HALVES

PLAYER WATCH: Danny Welbeck (Arsenal)

Danny Welbeck can often need a few chances before finally scoring, but the Arsenal striker has certainly made the most of his very few touches inside the Aston Villa box this afternoon.

Here's his heat map from the first half.

15:52
From Sportsmail's Riath Al-Samarrai at the Liberty Stadium

'Referee Jonathan Moss is having an awful game and has just been booed off the pitch very loudly.'

Wilfried Bony of Swansea (10) receives a red card for a second bookable offence from referee Jonathan Moss
15:52
It's HALF-TIME across all four Premier League games

Apart from four mad minutes at Villa Park and a reckless couple of challenges from Wilfried Bony at Swansea, we haven't had much to shout about...

15:45
From Sportsmail's Laurie Whitwell at Villa Park

'And to think Villa were the better side for 30 minutes. Arsenal have scored three in three minutes and 15 seconds by my watch. Devastating.

'Mesut Ozil is playing centrally and showed his class in clinical fashion for the first two goals. Promising partnership with Danny Welbeck too.

'Arsene Wenger had been in his seat the whole half but was up and down like a jack in the box for each goal.'

Danny Welbeck (right) celebrates with Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey as Arsenal scored three goals in just over three minutes
15:41
RED CARD: Wilfied Bony (Swansea)

From Sportsmail's Riath Al-Samarrai at the Liberty Stadium:

'Bony's first booking was very soft, but he certainly deserved the second. Stupid tackle for a man on a yellow. His season is very slow getting going.'

15:41
From Sportsmail's Chris Wheeler at Turf Moor

'Referee Anthony Taylor incurs the wrath of Burnley fans as he penalises Lukas Jutkiewicz for a foul on Wes Brown when the Sunderland defender quite clearly had his hands all over the Clarets striker.

'Some of you may have seen Brown appearing on a celebrity cooking show in midweek and he was lucky there that Jutkiewicz didn’t make, er, a meal out of that.'

15:36
GOAL! Aston Villa 0-3 ARSENAL

Complete capitulation form Villa as Aly Cissokho has scored an own goal after bundling in a Kieran Gibbs cross. That's three goals in under four minutes from Arsenal and in my books game over for the hosts.

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil (centre) shoots to score the opening goal at Villa Park

15:33
GOAL! Aston Villa 0-2 ARSENAL

And it's a role reversal as Ozil squares for Danny Welbeck to score his first Gunners goal

15:32
GOAL! Aston Villa 0-1 ARSENAL

This will silence a few doubters. Danny Welbeck threads in Mesut Ozil who fires the Gunners ahead.

15:32
From Sportsmail's Craig Hope at St James' Park

'Well, here’s our half-hour protest update: there hasn’t been one.

'The biggest noise to emanate from the home end has been for the 17th and 18th minutes of applause for the two Newcastle fans who died in the MH17 disaster and for Jonas Gutierrez, who wears No 18 for the Magpies.

'Few chances in terms of the action. Cheick Tiote has been outstanding for the hosts on his return to the side. He’s superhuman at times when it comes to out-battling opponents.'

15:30
From Sportsmail's Riath Al-Samarrai at the Liberty Stadium

'Not much for Hodgson to ponder so far, except for Wayne Routledge. He made a good chance with a cross and he's just shot against the bar. Beyond that, no player of any nationality has done much to shout about.'

England manager Roy Hodgson (right) watches from the stands at the Liberty Stadium
15:29
Swansea 0-0 Southampton

One again Routledge goes close to breaking the 3pm deadlock. The Swansea winger collects a pass from Gylfi Sigurdsson before firing a first-time effort off target via the top of the crossbar.

15:26
Aston Villa 0-0 Arsenal

Brilliant save from Wojciech Szczesny! Tom Cleverley curls a cross to the back post for Ciaran Clark who is favourite to score, but the Gunners keeper made himself big Peter Schemeichel style to block the effort.

15:24
From Sportsmail's Chris Wheeler at Turf Moor

Burnley are pressing hard for that elusive goal but Marvin Sordell and David Jones have both wasted good chances.

It means it’s 400 minutes and counting since Scott Arfield stunned Chelsea with their only Premier League goal of the season so far in the opening game here at Turf Moor.

A Sunderland fan holds up a sign saying Pardew In.com, in ironic support for under-fire Newcastle manager Alan Pardew
15:21
Swansea 0-0 Southampton

We are still waiting for our first goal this afternoon, but we go close at Swansea as Wayne Routledge's ambitious volley from the corner of the box flies just wide of the Southampton post.

15:19
From Sportsmail's Laurie Whitwell at Villa Park

'Nearly a full house at Villa Park, some 10,000 more here than for the opening game of the season against Newcastle. Simmering atmosphere so far.

'Only shot on target so far from Fabian Delph, who brought a fine save from Wojciech Szczesny after a poor kick from the Arsenal goalkeeper.'

15:14
Newcastle 0-0 Hull

You can't blame Pardew for this. Jack Colback has a fantastic chance to fire Newcastle ahead, but can only stab a shot straight at Allan McGregor inside the box. The midfielder places his hands on his head - knowing it was a fantastic opportunity.

Newcastle chairman Mike Ashley gives the thumbs up from inside St James' Park
15:10
Aston Villa 0-0 Arsenal

Danny Welbeck struggled to hit the target fro Arsenal midweek, and he has started the same way today. Te Gunners forward curling over from the edge of the box.

15:09
From Sportsmail's Craig Hope at St James' Park

'Songs from the home end thus far have all been for Jonas Gutierrez, who announced this week he is suffering from testicular cancer. Sense, thankfully, seems to have prevailed on Tyneside.'

15:08
Newcastle 0-0 Hull

Nearly more misery for Newcastle as Nikica Jelavic looked like he had headed Hull in front at St James' Park. But the byline cross delivered from Ahmed Elmohamady before hand had been ruled to have gone out of play resulting in the goal being disallowed.

15:01
From Sportsmail's Riath Al-Samarrai at the Liberty Stadium

'It seems that Swansea's gripes about Roy Hodgson worked. He's at the Liberty Stadium, sat next to Huw Jenkins, who will no doubt be extolling the virtues of Nathan Dyer, Wayne Routledge and Jonjo Shelvey.'

15:00
From Sportsmail's Laurie Whitwell at Villa Park

'Arsenal insist Alexis Sanchez was never supposed to be in the starting line-up and that a clerical error is to blame for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain being named on the bench. A curious prelude to this match, however.'

14:59
BREAKING TEAM NEWS: Carlos Sanchez replaces Ashley Westwood for Villa

The teams are coming out now, but Sanchez will start after all at Villa Park... Carlos Sanchez that is, as he replaces Ashley Westwood. Joe Cole is now on the Villa bench.

14:57
From Sportsmail's Craig Hope at St James' Park

'I’ve had a walk down into town to gauge the atmosphere ahead of what promises to be a tasty afternoon here at St James’.

'I called by the famous Strawberry pub in the shadow of the Gallowgate End and, while a few ‘Pardew Out’ cards were being handed out, they appeared far from widespread.

'The attitude of most fans in there was, yes, they want a change of manager, but creating a poisonous environment inside the ground would be counterproductive.

'We’ll have to see how it plays out on that front. The teams are in the tunnel…'

Marvin Sordell is given the nod to replace the injured Danny Ings as hosts Burnley took on Sunderland at Turf Moor.

Sordell is the only change for the Clarets, beating Ashley Barnes into the starting XI.

Sunderland, who like Burnley are still winless in the Barclays Premier League, recall Emanuele Giaccherini in place of Ricardo Alvarez.

Argentina's World Cup defender Federico Fernandez is handed his first Barclays Premier League start for Swansea against Southampton following his £8million move from Napoli.

Fernandez comes in for the injured Jordi Amat (knee) with Wilfried Bony replacing Bafetimbi Gomis in the only other change from the Swansea side that lost for the first time this season at Chelsea last weekend.

Southampton also make two changes from the team which beat Newcastle 4-0, Maya Yoshida replacing Toby Alderweireld (hamstring) at the back and midfielder James Ward-Prowse coming in for Steven Davis, who drops to the bench.

14:32
Full line-ups from Villa Park

Aston Villa: Guzan, Hutton, Clark, Senderos, Cissokho, Weimann, Cleverley, Westwood, Delph, Richardson, Agbonlahor. Subs: Okore, Bacuna, Sanchez, N'Zogbia, Given, Lowton, Grealish.

14:31

Under-fire Newcastle boss Alan Pardew hands midfield enforcer Cheick Tiote the task of shoring up his side as he goes in search of a first Barclays Premier League win of the season.

Tiote, who was used as a substitute in last weekend's 4-0 defeat at Southampton, returns to the starting line-up along with full-back Paul Dummett as Vurnon Anita and Massadio Haidara make way, while there is a seat on the bench for the first time this season for striker Papiss Cisse.

Hull manager Steve Bruce, who has been linked with Pardew's job should he lose it, names an unchanged side and that means only a seat on the bench for midfielder David Meyler, who was infamously head-butted by the Magpies' boss last season.

14:27
Sanchez left out rather than ruled out for the Gunners

The Chile striker is on the bench for the north London side, with the team sheet released reading an error. So has he simply been dropped?

14:23
Full line-ups from St James' Park

Arsenal are hoping to bounce back from their Champions League defeat by Borussia Dortmund when they travel to Aston Villa today, but already there are feelings that this Gunners side is not good enough to lead a title charge.

And so another season comes to a close...

No, I don't mean the Premier League campaign! (Aston Villa, Swansea and Southampton for the Champions League anyone?)

It is of course the last weekend of summer, it's not exactly going out with glorious sunshine, but let's hope our eight teams in action this afternoon can serve up some drama from 3pm.

If not, then I'm sure Newcastle supporters could help us out...
