Premier League half-term reports: Arsenal are flying, Moyes is still finding his feet at United and West Ham are dropping like a stone... But how does your club rate halfway through the season?

We are at the mid-way point in this most engaging of seasons.

There have been shock upsets, thrilling goals, decisive matches and enough bonkers storylines to write a Christmas panto. Not to mention six managerial changes. If only someone had shouted, ‘They’re not behind you!’

Everything is still to play for, of course. Here, Sportsmail offers the 20 Barclays Premier League clubs their half-term reports.

Arsenal

Strengths: Variety in midfield and flexibility of attacking combinations mean goals can come from anywhere. Indeed, 13 different players have scored in the league this season.

Weaknesses: Lack of quality striking cover for Olivier Giroud and absence of championship pedigree. None of the current squad have won the title in England.

Head boy: Aaron Ramsey. Taken his game to another level.

Dunce cap: Emmanuel Frimpong. Should steer clear of Twitter when angry.

Grade: A+

Aston Villa

Strengths: If everything clicks there is a proper team at Vila Park, full of running, ingenuity and goal threat.

Weaknesses: Structure of play can appear chaotic at times and inexperience has undermined good positions in games.

Head boy: Fabian Delph. Finally beginning to turn promise into performances.

Dunce cap: Christian Benteke. Shadow of the player who terrorised defences last season.

Grade: C-

Big responsibility: Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor, pictured here scoring against Swansea, could be key to Paul Lambert's side staying in the top flight

Cardiff

Strengths: Disciplined, energetic, and a match for anyone at the Cardiff City Stadium. Always a threat at set pieces while Steven Caulker and Ben Turner are a capable centre-back pairing.

Weaknesses: Attacking options limited and style of play occasionally too conservative. Fraizer Campbell has done well but can become isolated in 4-5-1 formation. Oh, and an erratic, meddling owner.

Head boy: Gary Medel. Beating heart of Cardiff’s midfield.

Dunce cap: Andrea Cornelius. Affected by injury but few signs of £7.5m quality.

Grade: B

Dejected: Cardiff's players, including Andreas Cornelius (left) and Jordon Mutch (right), are hoping to bounce back from the sacking of manager Malky Mackay and conceding a last minute equaliser to Sunderland on Saturday

Chelsea

Strengths: The top-flight’s finest manager in Jose Mourinho, a menagerie of creative talents, and seasoned campaigners who know what it takes to finish first.

Weaknesses: A strike-force of Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres, and Demba Ba with six league goals between them. Mourinho will want to address this issue in January.

Head boy: Eden Hazard. Has responded well to challenge from boss to score eight times in the league.

Dunce cap: Michael Essien. Six appearances in total, five yellow cards. Says it all.

Grade: B+

Crystal Palace

Strengths: Wily operator in charge in Tony Pulis, without a relegation to his name, and a group of committed players. Defence has been excellent, while superb support from stands could also be key.

Weaknesses: Quality of squad perhaps short of what is required in this level and goals have been hard to come by. Without reinforcements, injuries to certain personnel would prove destabilising.

Head boy: Barry Bannan. Diminutive dynamo looks revitalised at Selhurst Park.

Dunce cap: Florian Marange. A brief, strained affair with the club.

Grade: C

Fresh start: Crystal Palace have fought their way out of the drop zone with some improved performances under new manager Tony Pulis

Everton

Strengths: Fluidity of play, balance throughout the team and a bright, young manager whose philosophy is bearing fruit.

Weaknesses: Inexperience of the rarefied air at the top of the table may affect some players as the season reaches climax.

Head boy: Ross Barkley. Living up to his prodigious talent.

Dunce cap: Nikica Jelavic. No goals in eight appearances.

Grade: A

Fulham

Strengths: Some serious skill and top-tier pedigree among the ranks: Dimitar Berbatov, Adel Taarabt, Darren Bent, Pajtim Kasami, Scott Parker. Rene Meulensteen inspires hope too.

Weaknesses: The average age of each starting XI hovers around 30 years old and legs could sap. Defending has been comical at times.

Head boy: Pajtim Kasami. Capable of wonder goals and crucial goals.

Dunce cap: Fernando Amorebieta. An unsteady presence at the back.

Grade: D-

Nowhere to hide: Fulham trio Patjim Kasami (left), Steve Sidwell (middle) and Hugo Rodallega (right) looked shocked during their 6-0 defeat to Hull last weekend

Hull

Strengths: Steve Bruce is an accomplished manager and seems back to his best in Humberside. Strong core to his team.

Weaknesses: Before the 6-0 demolition of Fulham you would say strikeforce. Still a concern given Yannick Sagbo and Danny Graham have only three goals between them.

Head boy: Tom Huddlestone. All-action midfielder has been brilliant.

Dunce cap: Assem Allam. Name-change demands have only brought clouds over the club.

Grade: A-

Liverpool

Strengths: Positive, vibrant forward play built on exciting young talents. A lack of European football to clog the calendar. Oh, and a certain Luis Suarez.

Weaknesses: Occasionally unsure at the back and have lost to all three front-runners for title so temperament can be questioned.

Head boy: Luis Suarez. No explanation required.

Dunce cap: Kolo Toure. Had a shocker against Hull.

Grade: B+

All smiles: Stand-in Liverpool captain Luis Suarez (left) has excelled in front of goal for Brendan Rodgers' side

Manchester City

Strengths: Quite probably the strongest squad in the league with two top players for every position, many of whom have been champions before. Unbeatable at home.

Weaknesses: Mental fortitude of some players, as highlighted by Roberto Mancini, still a doubt, with episodes of switching off a theme away from home.

Head boy: Sergio Aguero. Explosive striker at the peak of his ability.

Dunce cap: Martin Demichelis. Languid defender looks to slow for division.

Grade: B+

Manchester United

Strengths: The highest number of winners boasted by any top-flight team with an engrained sense of overcoming difficulties. The emergence of Adnan Januzaj is a real bonus.

Weaknesses: A central midfield with marshmallow softness, while once formidable Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand appear on way down. No Alex Ferguson; brutal but true.

Head boy: Wayne Rooney. Just imagine if he had gone to Chelsea.

Dunce cap: Marouane Fellaini. Not nearly approached his £27.5million cost.

Grade: C

Newcastle

Strengths: French Connection UK. Imports from France may be too great for some locals to stomach but they have boosted the club.

Weaknesses: The ever-present possibility that a change from above could upset Alan Pardew’s serenely-sailing ship in one gust.

Head boy: Loic Remy. A menace and has 10 strikes already this term.

Dunce cap: Papiss Cisse. Just one league goal all season – and that from the penalty spot.

Grade: B+

In the mix: Loic Remy's goals have fired Alan Pardew's Newcastle to within four points of the Champions League places

Norwich

Strengths: Clever investment in the summer gives Chris Hughton options across the side. Gary Hooper has proven he will score goals at this level.

Weaknesses: Too restrained at times when boldness may prosper. Creativity from midfield a little bit lacking.

Head boy: Nathan Redmond. Thrown in at 19 and prospered. Always positive.

Dunce cap: Javier Garrido. Has disappeared from contention after being first-choice.

Grade: C

Under pressure: Midfielder Wes Hoolahan and his Norwich team-mates are just three points away from the relegation zone after a disappointing first half of the campaign

Southampton

Strengths: High-pressing game and understanding between players is excellent. Young and hungry team with real sense of a united purpose.

Weaknesses: May be a ceiling to attainment possible with current crop, before teenagers develop fully. Only four players have scored more than once this season.

Head boy: Adam Lallana. Has added goals to his beguiling touch.

Dunce cap: Gaston Ramirez. Not yet found his place in this team.

Grade: B

Brazil bound? Southampton captain Adam Lallana, pictured here scoring against Tottenham, has been instrumental in his side's impressive start to the season

Stoke

Strengths: A squad equipped with players who know this division and a manager well-versed in what’s required. A strong foundation.

Weaknesses: Mark Hughes is trying to implement a major shift away from long-ball tactics to a patient passing game and that has caused growing pains on occasions. Whether a switch is compatible with survival remains to be seen.

Head boy: Steven Nzonzi. Ever-present this season and brings powerful elegance to midfield.

Dunce cap: Marko Arnautovic. We were promised fireworks on and off the pitch. None so far.

Grade: C+

Aiming high: Stoke striker Peter Crouch will be aiming to lift his team away from the relegation zone with more goals in the second half of the season

Aiming high: Stoke striker Peter Crouch will be aiming to lift his team away from the relegation zone with more goals in the second half of the season

Sunderland

Strengths: Capable of slick interchange in attack and have tightened up at the back. Stadium of Light a relatively safe haven. Getting rid of Paolo Di Canio has given them a chance.

Weaknesses: Possibly left themselves too much to do. Gus Poyet took charge of a fragmented squad and he has expressed frustration when they fail to adopt his ideas.

Head boy: Phil Bardlsey. Performing well shorn of his tormentor-in-chief.

Dunce cap: Jozy Altidore. Not been able to produce return for £6m, scoring once in 17 games.

Grade: D-

Rock bottom: Sunderland find themselves two points adrift of safety but Jack Colback's late equaliser against Cardiff could help spark a revival in 2014

Swansea

Strengths: Possess glacial passing ability that will always create chances and Michael Laudrup’s elegance of thought cannot be underestimated.

Weaknesses: Pomp and energy of last season have dipped, leading to a few underwhelming displays. The lack of fitness of Michu and Wilfried Bony is a problem.

Head boy: Jonjo Shelvey. Is thriving in enhanced role.

Dunce cap: Alejandro Pozuelo. Arrived for £425,000 from Real Betis but has yet to score.

Grade: C

Off target: Wilfried Bony's struggles in front of goal have left Swansea just five points above the drop zone

Off target: Wilfried Bony's struggles in front of goal have left Swansea just five points above the drop zone

Tottenham

Strengths: Squad bursting with talent and options, containing pace, trickery and strength. A man in Tim Sherwood who knows the club. Can he get the best out of his players?

Weaknesses: Brittle underbelly that was exposed first by West Ham, then ruthlessly by Manchester City and Liverpool. Slow defence is a concern.

Head boy: Kyle Walker. Most frequent fixture of team a dependable pick.

Dunce cap: Erik Lamela. Homesick £30m buy has done nothing to justify price.

Grade: C-

Room for improvement: Summer signing Roberto Soldado, pictured here scoring a penalty against Stoke on Sunday, has failed to live up to his £26 million price-tag since joining from Valencia

West Brom

Strengths: A kaleidoscope of attacking options, with any two of seven strikers able to provide a decent frontline. A match for any side as results at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge testify.

Weaknesses: No known best starting XI and sloppy goals conceded. Keith Downing is not the man for such a situation and the head coach role must be sorted soon.

Head boy: Saido Berahino. Delightful centre forward with outside shot at England.

Dunce cap: Nicolas Anelka. Brought shame on the club with his offensive celebration.

Grade: D

More to come: Goals from youngster Saido Berahino are needed if managerless West Brom are to recover from their miserable run of form

More to come: Goals from youngster Saido Berahino are needed if managerless West Brom are to recover from their miserable run of form

West Ham

Strengths: In Sam Allardyce they have a manager with knowledge of beating relegation. A fully fit squad would not be experiencing such problems.

Weaknesses: An Andy Carroll-shaped hole exposes the flaw in the manager’s system and has clearly been the big issue. Aside from injuries, goalkeeper shuffling not helping either.

Head boy: Mark Noble. Reliable figure amid the uncertainty.

Dunce cap: Mo Diame. Drop in form from last season is marked.

Grade: D-
