Man Utd news: Jamie Carragher slams Jose Mourinho tactics, picks on Henrikh Mkhitaryan

JAMIE CARRAGHER has aimed a dig at Manchester United, claiming they might as well have been playing with 10 men against Chelsea with Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the pitch.

Jose Mourinho: Chelsea were in control of the game

Manchester United lost ground in the title race, as they were at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

An Alvaro Morata header proved to be the difference between the two sides, as Antonio Conte’s men ended their week on a positive note following their disappointing showing against Roma in the Champions League.

While United showed the greater attacking threat in the first half against the Blues, they looked rather blunt in the second half and were unable to find a goal.

Carragher slated the way United set themselves up, and even picked out Mkhitaryan for criticism.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan struggled to have much of an impact on the game

“I thought United might as well be playing with 10 men with Mkhitaryan in that midfield,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“There was a lot of space in midfield with Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and N’Golo Kante stepping in.

“Tiemoue Bakayoko caused big problems getting forward.

Jamie Carragher thinks Henrikh Mkhitaryan was non existent against Chelsea

“Sometimes you look if United play an open game - are they actually going to win?

“Should Mourinho play a negative game in the big games, because is that really the way they will get points?”

United now have a couple of weeks to recover before they take on Newcastle after the international break on Saturday November 18.
