Chelsea news: Antonio Conte gives verdict on Roman Abramovich visiting training ground

CHELSEA boss Antonio Conte insists he is unconcerned by Roman Abramovich's visit to the club's training ground.

Conte annoyed with Chelsea's 'really bad' performance

The Italian enjoyed an impressive first season in English football as the Blues won the Premier League and reached the FA Cup final.

But he's found the going tougher this time around and Chelsea are already nine points adrift of table-toppers Manchester City.

Chelsea have stumbled in their past two Champions League games as well, drawing and losing against Serie A giants Roma.

Those struggles have led to claims Conte is facing the axe like a series of former Stamford Bridge gaffers before him.

And that speculation has ramped up amid reports Chelsea owner Abramovich was spotted down at Cobham this week.

Ahead of tomorrow's showdown with Manchester United, Conte says he's not worried about his job potentially being on the line though.

Asked about Abramovich's training ground visit, Conte told Sky Sports: "It's very strange to have this type of question… I think this question is about what happened in the past at this club.

"I am different. I am a different coach. A different person. I am not worried. I am not worried about this situation.

"I continue to do my job and my work. I think my club is satisfied with the work I am doing, a really fantastic job at Chelsea, but football is strange.

"When I finish my work here and I go to my home I am really satisfied with what I am doing with this club."

Conte also offered an insight into his focus as Chelsea look to bounce back from Wednesday night's defeat to Roma.

"My worry is to try to improve my players, to work with them, to find the best solution for the club and to give satisfaction to the fans, because they deserve the best," Conte said.

Conte highlighted the positives of his second campaign in west London too.

He added: "During a season you have different moments, up and down, but you have to hope in a good team to have good stability.

"When you have these moments you have to find strength to overcome the difficulty and then to work together to improve the situation.

"It's a normal moment for me. Every manager must be prepared to face every situation. In the league we have the points we deserve, we are very close to going through in the Champions League and we are in the Carabao Cup.

"The most important thing for me is the work, my job, and then to go to my house to be satisfied with my work."
