Roma vs Chelsea: Alvaro Morata disappointed Frank Lampard with his performance

Chelsea went into tonight’s Champions League clash knowing a win would qualify them for the last-16 stage of the Champions League.

But the Blues found themselves 1-0 down within 39 seconds of the game and they never recovered, losing the game 3-0.

Stephan El Shaarawy scored a stunning opener and made it 2-0 10 minutes before half-time.

At the break, Lampard says Eden Hazard was the only Chelsea player who was creating opportunities for others and himself.

Lampard was disappointed in striker Alvaro Morata, who had a great chance to equalise at 1-0.

I’m a bit disappointed with Alvaro Morata, he just needed a delicate touch. He doesn't have to put his foot through that in that position

“Yeah they’ve had chances,” Lampard said on BT Sport at half-time.

“(Cesc) Fabregas on the ball has played some passes. Typically Eden Hazard has been the man that is making things happen on his own.

“His dribbling is confident at the moment, you can see that in his game. Low-centre of gravity, creating things for himself.

“They’re not amazingly clear-cut chances, this one is a shot on his bad foot on the edge of the box.

Roma vs Chelsea: Frank Lampard says Eden Hazard was creating chances on his own in the first half

“They’re going to need to try to be clinical in the second half, because against Italians, they’re going to defend.

“I’m a bit disappointed with Morata, he just needed a delicate touch.

“He doesn't have to put his foot through that in that position.

“The Italians will defend now and now they’ll look to flip it on Chelsea and hit them on the counter attack.”
