Angel Gomes is one of Manchester United’s top prospects from the youth academy and was named Young Player of the Year last term.

The 17-year-old made his Premier League debut last season but is yet to agree a long-term deal with the Red Devils.

And following his recent success winning the Under-17 World Cup with England this month, his father Gil Gomes has been waxing lyrical.

However, he put United on tenterhooks by claiming a number of Europe’s top clubs are all keen to sign his son.

“He is the youngest player in the history of English football of Manchester United,” Gil Gomes told Portuguese radio station RTP.

“So the qualities are really above average.

“And today he is a player coveted by all the greats of Europe.”

United have reportedly been sweating over Gomes’ future as he is yet to sign a long-term professional deal.

However, the teenager made it clear last season he was enjoying his football at Old Trafford and reserved special praise for Jose Mourinho.

“Obviously it’s a dream come true. Being here since the age of six, and working my way up, it’s what everyone dreams about,” he said.

“I just want to thank the manager for trusting me, putting me on the bench and playing me.

“Obviously, all the staff back at the club [too] and everyone that’s helped me.”
