Arsenal news LIVE updates: Robert Pires cannot see Thomas Lemar signing

Xhaka says Swansea win showed mental toughness

12:15: Granit Xhaka thinks Arsenal are beginning to show mental toughness after coming from behind to win three games in the last week.

"It's the third time in a week that the team have come from behind to win, that says a lot about this team," Xhaka said after the comeback victory over Swansea.

"Lots of people talk about the character of our team, that it's not right and that we need to do more. But we always show that we can come back.

"Today we were 1-0 down, last week we were 1-0 down, but we turned the games around and that shows the character of this team.

"The manager told us at half-time that we had to give more, that we had to be more aggressive and play quicker.

"You have to pay compliments to Swansea - they stood deep in the first half and were good defensively. In the second half, we played as we know we can and it was very important for us to win."

Ozil compares Lacazette to Benzema

10:10: Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is backing Alexandre Lacazette to be as big a hit for France as Karim Benzema

“I think Lacazette’s game is different,” he told SFR Sport.

“But I hope he will have as much success as Benzema.

“He has his head on his shoulders, he works hard.

“I hope he scores as many goals as Benzema with the French national team.”

Arsenal want to sign Ter Stegen

08:15: Arsenal are keen on signing Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

That's according to Spanish outlet Don Balon.

Arsene Wenger supposedly wants the 25-year-old to replace the ageing and waning Petr Cech.

However, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in luring him away from Catalonia.

Pires thinks Arsenal will not land Lemar

07:30: Arsenal legend Robert Pires thinks the Gunners have missed their chance to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

And he also reckons the 21-year-old would not be good value for money.

"Arsene tried to buy Lemar, and tried very hard, but I don't think the move will happen now.

"I don't think he's worth £90m, it's too much, the market is crazy. What would Zidane and Ronaldinho be worth now?”

Flop Sanogo can be one of the best

07:10: Arsenal fans probably still have nightmares about Yaya Sanogo.

The 24-year-old scored just once in 20 games during a torrid four-year spell in north London.

But, despite being arguably one of the Gunners' worst-ever signings, his Toulouse boss thinks he could be one of the best players in world football.

Pascal Dupraz said: “I am sure that Yaya Sanogo will become the player he was again.

“His body permitting, he is an excellent player.

"The president, Sadran, did a good job having the balls to bring him here because I am sure that he will become the player he once was again...

"One of the best attackers of his generation.”

Wenger says Man City are beatable

06:50: Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger cannot see Manchester City going the whole season unbeaten.

“That’s normal,” said Wenger, about City being title favourites.

“Because at the moment they are on a good run and people extend always these good runs to the end of the season - but at some stage they have to be stopped.

“It’s true because nobody does that, run away.

“But we can still just focus on this game and try to give our best and prepare well, focus and give our best there.

“The most difficult, the pressure is really on when you don't win.

“When you win, okay, you have a kind of pressure but the real pressure in our job is when you don't win and you have absolutely to win.

“If tomorrow you are a manager and I give you the choice to sit on the bench of Crystal Palace or City, what would you say? So I think yes, it's a pressure, but it's a nice one."
