Jose Mourinho has ignited his feud with Antonio Conte

That is according to former Everton midfielder and Sky Sports pundit Leon Osman.

Chelsea have been hit by injuries to key members of their squad this season and are currently without midfielders N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater.

Last night Mourinho took a swipe at managers, who complain about injuries, which critics believe was directed at Conte.

He said: "Other managers, they cry, they cry, they cry when some player is injured. I don't cry. I think the way to do it is to ignore the players that are injured, is to focus on the players that are available.

"But if I want to moan and cry like the others, I can cry for the next five minutes. (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic, (Paul) Pogba, (Marouane) Fellaini, Marcos Rojo - I can cry but I don't, so we do it with what we have.

“You know, we went to Liverpool with two midfield players and nothing else, not even on the bench.”

Mourinho’s comments were then put to Conte, who hit back at his counterpart saying: "A lot of time Mourinho has to see what happens at Chelsea.

Leon Osman believes Jose Mourinho's comments are calculated

"A lot of time, also last season. I think he has to think about his team and stop... to look at himself, not the others."

And Osman believes Mourinho’s comments were designed to derail his former club.

"When you can see someone on the ropes you throw another punch," he said on Sky Sports.

"Chelsea have stuttered of late - they have had some pretty poor results and he has just thrown an extra little dig in trying to make it difficult for them to get off the ground."
