Jurgen Klopp has claimed he cannot be replaced at Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has come under pressure heading into Saturday’s blockbuster clash with Liverpool and Manchester United (12.30pm).

Reports have suggested the former Borussia Dortmund boss could get the boot if the Reds fail to beat United at Anfield.

Defeat would mean Klopp has racked up the same number of points from eight games as his predecessor Brendan Rodgers.

However, the 50-year-old is not fearful he will lose his job, claiming Liverpool would struggle to find a better replacement.

“If I would come in today as a new manager, and this would be the situation, and everyone gave us time and said do the next step, that would be perfect,” Klopp said.

“Unfortunately if they sack me now I don’t think there are a lot of managers who would do the job better than I do.

“I don’t think I’m perfect but it’s quite difficult to find better options on this.

“So I still think as long as 98 per cent of our Liverpool audience think we are on the right lines, we will succeed.”

A win for Liverpool would move them into the top four and cut Manchester United’s advantage to just four points.

And Klopp is not concerned by the Reds’ current league position and fully expects them to be competing for the Champions League spots come the end of the season.

“We didn’t get the results so far, does that mean I should stop? No,” he added.

“It’s not the biggest distance to the top teams at the moment, even when it looks from the points a little bit different.”
