Reds trying to snatch Ghoulam

14:30: Liverpool are ready to make a move for Napoli ace Faouzi Ghoulam in a bid to head off interest from Manchester City.

The Algerian international is out of contract at the end of the season and talks about a new deal have stalled over a release clause.

His agent Jorge Mendes wants a £30 million release clause in the deal which Napoli believe is well below his market value and are reluctant to meet it.

City want Ghoulam as a replacement for Benjamin Mendy who is ready to miss the rest of the season after having an operation on damaged knee ligaments.

Liverpool have been tracking him for the last year and rate him as one of the best left-backs in Europe and will have to move or risk losing him.

Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Juventus have all expressed an interest in signing him when the transfer window opens in the New Year as well as City.

13:45: Antonio Conte is weighing up quitting Premier League champions Chelsea at the end of the season and returning home to Italy.

Conte who led the Blues to the Premier League crown in his first season in charge of Stamford Bridge is known to be missing his homeland.

While their have been deep divisions with Blues top brass about what he feels was a lack of support in the transfer market last summer.

The club missed out on a series of Conte’s transfer targets and it could end up see them changing manager for the 15th time since Claudio Ranieri left the club in May 2004.

Conte came close to leaving the club just weeks after winning the Premier League title and the only thing that stopped him was a sharp financial penalty.

He has since come under fire for his handling of the Diego Costa fiasco whom he dumped by text message and then the club struggled to sell.

The former Italy boss is only under contract to the Blues until 2019 and has already refused to extend it any further.

Kante talks PSG snub

13:35: N’Golo Kante has opened up about turning down a move to Paris Saint-Germain before joining Chelsea.

PSG have assembled a squad with serious hopes of winning the Champions League after the arrival of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar for a world record transfer fee. 

Kante has revealed PSG attempted to sign him but he has no regrets about rejecting them.

Kante told Le10Sport: “Do I regret that I rejected the PSG? 

“No. When I was in Leicester, I had opportunities, but my priority was to stay in the Premier League.”

Double swoop readied

13:30: Chelsea are reportedly lining up a double swoop for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Juventus star Alex Sandro in a bid to keep hold of Antonio Conte.

Sandro was on the Blues’ radar over the summer, as Antonio Conte wanted to provide competition for Marcos Alonso.

A number of bids were rejected, as Juve held firm over the Brazilian.

Sanchez meanwhile, looks increasingly likely to leave the Emirates at the end of the season as he will be out of contract and has cut a frustrated figure at times this campaign.

Reports have suggested United are still interested, but they accept Manchester City are more likely to clinch a deal for the Chilean.

Conte over the summer was left furious after missing out on a number of key targets, including Romelu Lukaku who joined Manchester United from Everton.

And according to the Daily Mirror, the Blues are ready to make a fresh move for £60million-rated Sandro as well as Sanchez.

The report suggests the west London outfit want to show ambition in the January window so as to keep Conte on side.
