Ruben Loftus-Cheek is good enough for Man City if Chelsea don't want him - Tim Sherwood

RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK could be set for a wheel-y good career after Tim Sherwood likened him to a Rolls Royce.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has impressed at Crystal Palace

The ex-Tottenham manager raised a few eyebrows when he made the comparison during The Debate on Sky Sports last week.

The England under-21 star has caught the eye after a number of promising performances for struggling Crystal Palace.

“I feel this kid’s a Rolls Royce, I think he’s a real footballer,” said Sherwood.

“I think he’s putting himself in the shop window for someone like Man City.

“’If Chelsea don’t want me, I’ll tell you what, Man City might want me’ – and he’s capabale of playing for them.

“I think he’s good enough to play for Chelsea but he’s not going to get an opportunity there, so he’s done the right thing (by joining Crystal Palace).”

The Chelsea loanee has been one of the only bright sparks in Crystal Palace’s otherwise dismal start to the season.

He was desperately unlucky to see an effort crash against the post in Saturday’s defeat at Manchester City and Palace fans have taken to him after a number of promising displays.

“Last week he played his first game for Roy Hodgson and Roy brought him off and got booed,” added Sherwood.

"I left Chelsea to get game time" admits Ruben Loftus-Cheek

“This kid’s a top player.”

Loftus-Cheek missed Palace’s defeats against Swansea and Burnley after picking up an injury in training but his return hasn’t been able to improve their fortunes.

Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing at City leaves Hodgson’s side rock-bottom and they face a daunting trip to Old Trafford on Saturday in search of their first point, and goal, of the season.
