Rowdy Chelsea fans gatecrash Sky Sports coverage

Chelsea fans gatecrashed Sky Sports’ coverage from the Blues’ Cobham training ground after discovering Ross Barkley had rejected a move to the club.

Sky had just gone live to their reporter to break the news the Everton midfielder had turned down a move to Stamford Bridge, despite beginning his medical.

And the fans struck, shouting “Chelsea, Chelsea”, forcing them to cut back to the studio where the guests were in stitches.

Paul Merson and Chris Kamara could not contain themselves as Jim White apologised and attempted to bring order back on the sofa.

Sky Sports viewers certainly enjoyed the interruption and joked about it on Twitter.

“Haha Chelsea fans. Transfer deadline day is back,” one fan wrote.

"Chelsea fans swearing live on Sky Sports. Love that Kammy & Merson found it hilarious rather than pretending to be shocked," another added.

"Those Chelsea fans overhead on Sky Sports just killed me!!" a third joked.

"Them chelsea fans on Sky Sports then hahahahaha," another wrote.

But the news was not a laughing matter for Blues fans after being informed they had been rejected by Barkley, despite the clubs agreeing a £35million fee.

“The two clubs agreed a deal of £35m and personal terms were agreed and after the medical we heard from Ross Barkley’s agent that he had changed his mind,” Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri said.

“He told us he wanted to reconsider and stay with us for the time being.

“It was a big surprise but that is football.”
