Alexis Sanchez has been linked with a move to Manchester City
The fee that Arsenal will receive for the midfielder has strengthened their resolve to keep hold of Alexis Sanchez in the face of Manchester City’s interest.
City had a £50m bid for Sanchez rejected on Tuesday evening and negotiations go on.
Sanchez is out of contract next June, but Arsenal feel they are under less pressure to sell the Chile international now they are set to receive a significant financial injection from the sale of Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Manager Arsene Wenger is understood to be confident that Sanchez will remain professional if he does not get the move he wants, and that there is no chance of the player threatening to go on strike.
Arsenal want an offer of at £70m before they will even consider a sale, and are more interested in a cash-only deal than a part-exchange involving Raheem Sterling.

Meanwhile, Liverpool striker Divock Origi was last night close to joining German club Wolfsburg on a season’s loan.
The Belgium international had looked set to be offered to Monaco as part of a deal for Lemar, but a move to the Bundesliga is now more likely.
Origi, 22, believes his chances of first-team football at Anfield will be limited this season, and is keen to play regularly to increase his chances of featuring at the World Cup next summer.
