Liverpool Transfer News: Philippe Coutinho not worth what Barcelona offered - Carragher

That is the opinion of former Liverpool defender and pundit Jamie Carragher.

Coutinho is linked with a move to Barcelona and has handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force through a move.

Barca have seen three bids rejected for the Brazilian, as Liverpool maintain he will not be sold before the window shuts on Thursday.

Carragher always thought Coutinho would stay at Anfield but does not think he is worth over £100million.

“I’ve felt that all along,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“I think Liverpool have come out quite categorically saying he was staying at the club. 

“I think it’s an awful lot of money. Do I think he’s worth that? Probably not. 

“It’s an awful lot of money for Philippe Coutinho. 

“I think he’s one of the top players in the Premier League but there is probably a good seven or eight players who are better who I think may have gone for that fee. 

“The problem Liverpool have had is they haven’t had a great window. 

“That may change in the last five or six days.”

Coutinho is currently suffering from a back injury and will once again miss the game at home to Arsenal today (4pm).
