Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Man Utd: Kenny Cunningham wants Red Devils to 'break the bank'

MANCHESTER UNITED have been told to “break the bank” and sign Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain by former Republic of Ireland defender Kenny Cunningham.

Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mustafi provide alternative commentary

Oxlade-Chamberlain is out of contract next summer and is no closer to signing a new deal with the Gunners.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been adamant the England international will not be leaving the Emirates this summer.

But the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea have been strongly linked with Oxlade-Chamberlain, who wants to forge a career in central midfield.

Manchester United are not understood to be interested in Oxlade-Chamberlain but Cunningham strongly believes they should do whatever it takes to sign him.

“Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has a year left on his contract at Arsenal, they should be breaking the bank to bring that type of player to the club,” Cunningham told RTE Sport.

“That would improve them in that area of the pitch.”

Cunningham’s comments came after accessing United's UEFA Super Cup loss to Real Madrid.

And he was distinctly unimpressed with Ander Herrera’s display.

He said: "Herrera for me, he is not up to it.

"He is not good enough. A good professional, a big heart."
