In the transfer saga of the summer, Manchester United remain determined to make Real Madrid star Bale part of their squad for the forthcoming season.
Jose Mourinho has already sealed deals for Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic.
But the 54-year-old wants a winger to help spearhead a title challenge this term.
Gareth Bale would fit the bill and - after falling behind Isco in Real's pecking order towards the latter stages of last season - doubts over his future at the Bernabeu continue to linger.

Reports in midweek said that Mourinho had told Ed Woodward to make a huge bid for the Wales international.
However, Spanish outlet Diario Gol claims United are unwilling to pay more than £90million to land their man.
Bale cost Madrid £86m to sign from Tottenham in the summer of 2013, when United were also in the mix for his signature.
And Real want to make a healthy profit on the 27-year-old if they are to discard him before the transfer window shuts on August 31.

Despite reports to the contrary, Mourinho insisted their pursuit of the player was over after United succumbed to a 2-1 European Super Cup defeat to Madrid on Tuesday.
"Clearly the club wants him, the manager wants him and he wants the club, so for me it's game over - even before it started," Mourinho told BT Sport.
"It's game over clearly because everybody knows he is going to stay."
