Insider claims Manchester United can't build a team around Griezmann

Manchester United are reportedly ready to back Jose Mourinho over the next five years with massive funds to spend.

According to The Sun, Ed Woodward and United’s owners have held talks over a new contract package for Mourinho.

They are set to increase his pay to £12million a year, with the intention of keeping the Portuguese in charge until at least 2022.

A £200m spree is set to ensue this summer to land the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Victor Lindelof and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

And across the five seasons planned for Mourinho, United could fork out as much as £1billion on a combination of his salary and signings in a bid to ensure the club returns to the summit of European football.

Chelsea have reportedly initiated talks over a move for Monaco star Bernardo Silva

Chelsea have reportedly initiated talks over a move for Monaco star Bernardo Silva.

The 22-year-old has attracted interest from the likes of United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

According to The Times, the Ligue 1 club want around £70m this summer but are prepared to sell as they look to spark a bidding war.

Chelsea have identified Portugal international Silva as part of their plan to fight for the Champions League title next season.

With Oscar having been sold for £60m in January, the versatile attacking midfielder could be a direct replacement.

Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly being eyed by rivals United over a £30m summer transfer plot.

Mourinho feels he can help continue the 23-year-old’s development at Old Trafford.

And according to the Mirror, the United boss will pursue a transfer as he looks to bolster his midfield following the departures of Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay.

While Mourinho feels the Gunners ace would fit into his plans, a reunion with either Chelsea’s Willian or Nemanja Matic is preferred, but deals there are unlikely to be possible.

Adam Lallana is reportedly set to end Paris Saint-Germain’s hopes this week of luring him away from Liverpool.

The French giants have pursued a move for the Reds midfielder.

However, according to The Sun, he will secure his future at Anfield imminently.

Lallana’s new four-year contract is apparently worth £31.2m, having agreed a £150,000-a-week salary to stay.

That will put the England international, who has been in solid form this term, on par with Liverpool’s top earners.
