Chelsea News: £30m signing almost complete, Conte talks Stamford Bridge arrival

Chelsea have beaten off competition from Arsenal to secure the signing of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

Both clubs have been tracking the Senegalese international as they look to bolster their respective defences.

But according to The Mirror, the 25-year-old has opted to join Chelsea.

Koulibaly is under contract with Napoli until 2019 but after failing to agree a new deal he has chosen to leave.

All that stands in his way of his £30million arrival in west London is reaching an agreement over his severance package with the Serie A side.

Antonio Conte can’t wait to get started at Chelsea.

Italy crashed out the Euro 2016 quarter-finals to Germany on penalties last night, and the 46-year-old will now turn his attentions to club duties.

“My future is to go back to working at club level, my future is Chelsea," Conte said. 

"In a few days time the new season will begin. To be honest I would have liked not have had a single day of holiday. 

“That would have meant going forward in the Euros. Now I will take seven days off, I will try and shift a bit of this disappointment at going out of the competition, before then taking the reigns at Chelsea. 

“I know it will be a significant difficult challenge, but that is the sort of challenge that I relish."
