Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to be reunited with Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez at White Hart Lane.
But yesterday Saints refuted claims that Spurs were set to sign the pair for £35million.
However, Schneiderlin is now looking to force his move away from the south-coast club.

According to reports, the France international has submitted a transfer request at St Mary's.
Last night the 24-year-old attacked the club on Twitter for not letting him leave.
"6 years of an amazing journey #saintsfc DESTROYED in 1 hour !!!" he posted.
But Saints chairman Ralph Krueger insists neither Schneiderlin nor Rodriguez will be allowed to leave.

"Rodriguez and Schneiderlin are part of the core that we have decided to keep in Southampton," Krueger said.
"They are not for sale and they will be a part of our club as we enter the new season.
"Any reports that Rodriguez or Schneiderlin are leaving or we are in engaged in transfer conversations are false."
