Arsenal are reportedly in a four-way battle with Southampton, Swansea City and Brighton in the race to seal the transfer of Novara forward Alessio Da Cruz.
The 20-year-old Dutchman has shone in Serie B this season, scoring five goals in 12 appearances so far in Italy’s second tier.
The Daily Mirror name Arsenal as among his admirers, with big names like Ajax also said to have scouted Da Cruz at points in the past.
Arsenal fans, however, will surely question the wisdom of looking at signing an inexperienced youngster like this when their need for big names has arguably never been greater.

The Daily Star recently claimed Arsenal could be in for Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir in that area, and he’s more the kind of calibre of player the Gunners need.
Still, Da Cruz could be a useful addition for the future if he can be persuaded to move to the Emirates Stadium over what looks like being a number of other offers.
