Tricky task for Chelsea…

Chelsea will find it tough putting an XI together against Watford this weekend, with Antonio Conte revealing today that he has just one fit central midfielder in his squad at the moment.

The Blues were already without N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater for the midweek game against Roma, with David Luiz being forced from defence into midfield for the game.

However, the Brazilian has since picked up a knock, as has summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to the Metro.

With only Cesc Fabregas available in that part of the pitch, here’s a look at the only way Chelsea can realistically line up when they host Watford for Saturday’s early kickoff…

Chelsea potential line up vs Watford – Andreas Christensen to move into midfield?

There has been some talk that Andreas Christensen could be deployed as an emergency defensive midfielder amidst all the absentees at the moment.

The Telegraph reported that the young Dane could be an option for Conte’s side in that position against Roma, though Luiz eventually got the nod.

That could surely mean he’s the leading contender now, with 17-year-old Ethan Ampadu surely the only other option – and one Conte is likely to be highly reluctant to take.

Elsewhere, Alvaro Morata should be fit to start again, and Chelsea have a fully fit defence to choose from, aside from Victor Moses missing at right wing-back, though the very capable Davide Zappacosta should be ready to step in.

Will this Chelsea XI be enough to see off a Watford side that just beat Arsenal last weekend?
