Arsenal legend explains why things are about to get better for Arsene Wenger’s side

Arsenal take on Everton this weekend.

Arsenal legend Paul Merson believes Arsene Wenger’s side should have less trouble getting three points against Everton this weekend.

The former Gunners star does not expect Ronald Koeman’s struggling outfit to provide the same kinds of problems as Watford did in their shock 2-1 victory last weekend.

Arsenal travel to Goodison Park with three league defeats to their name already this season, and could certainly do with a lift as they face a fight to even make the top four this term, let alone challenge for the Premier League title.

While Merson concedes it’s hard to know which Arsenal will show up, he told Sky Sports he was predicting a 3-1 win for the north Londoners and potential trouble ahead for Koeman as Everton boss.

‘Which Arsenal will turn up? The one we’ve been raving about for a month before Watford? Or the team who turned up at Watford?’ Merson said.

‘This could be a must-win game for Ronald Koeman on Sunday. You look at Craig Shakespeare’s sacking, and Leicester were always tipped to finish mid-table. Everton were a shoe-in for seventh, at least, and Koeman is under severe pressure. They could be in the bottom three after this.

‘I’m going for Arsenal. I know they were beaten at Watford, but Everton are not a team who are going to kick you off the pitch. Arsenal will be more comfortable playing against them.

‘Koeman bought a lot of the same in the summer, and lost Romelu Lukaku. I don’t think it was money well spent.’
