Chelsea set to receive £49M windfall for star as Blues forward moves closer to securing La Liga switch

Chelsea and Spain star Diego Costa is edging closer and closer to securing a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid’s £49M offer for the player being considered by Antonio Conte’s side, as reported by the Sun.

According to the Sun, Costa, 28, is desperate to leave the west London club this summer, with the player’s desire to leave increasing when boss Conte told him that he was no loner wanted at the club.

The Spanish forward has been reported by the Sun to only have eyes for a return to Atletico, however the Blues’ £50M asking price for the striker has hindered negotiations over the player’s future, with Atleti’s transfer embargo also putting a spanner in the works report the Sun.

Atletico though are now very eager to seal a return for one of their all-time favourite players, with Diego Simeone’s side upping their original offer of £25M to £39M with £10M in add-ons for the 22-goal Blues forward as per the Sun.

Should Chelsea end up getting the £49M being reported for AWOL star Costa, it’ll be great business for the Blues as they look to be getting a club-record fee for a player who doesn’t want to play for them at all. Very shrewd.
