22-year-old Liverpool star set for Premier League switch, player set to secure loan move away from Anfield before window closes

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is eyeing up a move for Liverpool and Belgium star Divock Origi, with the Spaniard seeing the Reds forward as the ideal replacement for current Magpies striker Dwight Gayle, according to the Daily Star.

Newcastle look set to cash in on Gayle, a player the Magpies have slapped an £18M asking price on the head of, with Benitez keen to sign Origi in order to fill the boots of the potentially departing Gayle, however the Premier League side face still competition from Juventus, Roma and Monaco in the race secure a loan move for the 22-year-old, as per the Daily Star.

As reported by the Daily Star, Liverpool and boss Jurgen Klopp want assurances that Origi will be guaranteed first team football before letting the player leave this summer, with the player looking to be given that at Newcastle should Gayle leave the north-east side before the window shuts on Thursday.

Origi joined Liverpool from Lille back in 2015, with the Belgium internatioal managing bags seven goals and four assist in 34 league games last season as the Reds finished in the top four for the first time since the 2013/14 season.

Should Origi manage to secure a move to Newcastle before Thursday’s deadline, it’ll be worthwhile keeping an eye on how the young forward develops under the seasoned veteran that is Rafa Benitez.
