Pep Guardiola to seal £50m signing from PL rival, Man Utd misfit to replace him

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly confident that he will be able to prise Danny Rose away from Tottenham with a £50m bid this summer.

The Spanish tactician is plotting an overhaul of his full-back options this summer, with Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta all expected to leave the club with expiring contracts.

In turn, he will need to replace them and according to The Mirror, he’s planning to raid City’s Premier League rivals for Rose with a £50m offer touted as he looks to solve his headache at left-back for the foreseeable future.

It’s claimed that the figure could force Spurs to consider the bid given that they will have their financial reservations moving forward as they move into their new £750m home, although it’s added that they aren’t under pressure to sell so they could hold firm.

Nevertheless, it will make business sense for chairman Daniel Levy. Tottenham will in turn target Manchester United’s Luke Shaw as per the report, who should be available for around £20m which in turn would effectively see the north London giants swap England internationals and receive a financial boost of around £20m-30m in the process.

While City will hope to convince Rose over the move by offering him double his current wages, as per The Mirror, Shaw’s time at Old Trafford has been a miserable one as he has struggled to establish himself under Jose Mourinho in particular this season with fitness and form being questioned.

Having struggled for playing time, it could be a crucial move for him to establish himself for club and country again, but it remains to be seen if United are willing to cut their losses already.

In contrast, Rose has been a pivotal part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side for some time now, and it would undoubtedly be a major blow for Tottenham to lose him, especially to a direct rival.
