Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to sign Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe, but it will cost £130m to prise him away from the French side.

The 18-year-old is having a memorable breakout season as he has bagged 19 goals and 11 assists in 32 appearances in all competitions and has attracted the interest of various clubs from around Europe with his performances.

While there have already been comparisons to compatriot Thierry Henry, Mbappe will undoubtedly be keen to follow in those footsteps and enjoy a career half as successful as the Arsenal legend.

However, according to The Express, the French international will not be available for cheap as Monaco have placed the eye-watering £130m price-tag on him this summer.

United face real competition for his signature too with Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all noted in the report as wanting to sign Mbappe, but unless one of those sides is willing to shatter the world transfer fee record then he may not be going anywhere this summer.

It’s claimed that United have made an £80m enquiry, but based on this latest report that isn’t even close to what Monaco are looking for as they are certainly looking to get as much as possible for one of the top talents in Europe.

Mbappe is contracted to the Ligue 1 leaders until 2019, and he has been a pivotal part of Leonardo Jardim’s  success so far this season as he has impressed a lot of people with his all-round game and finishing ability.

While all the interested clubs will be desperate to make a move happens this summer, it’s added in the report that it’s even more unlikely as Mbappe’s father, who is also his agent, prefers to stay at Monaco for another season.

It’s reported that the youngster wants to secure his spot in the French national squad ahead of the World Cup next summer, and they both believe that the best way to do that is to stay at Monaco where he will continue to have a prominent role and regular playing time.
