It’s not often that you hear rapid weight gain by an out of favour player listed as a good thing, but that’s the case in today’s article in the Sun about how Henrih Mkhitaryan worked his way back into Jose Mourinho’s plans at Manchester United.

The paper claim that the Armenian gained a quite unbelievable 6lbs of muscle during his time out of the squad, showing Jose that he had the drive and the physicality to start for the Red Devils.

6lbs in just a few months of sitting on the bench is an astonishing amount, and the midfielder must have been combining a Wayne Rooney type diet with a Cristiano Ronaldo type workout routine to make such impressive progress. Whatever he did, it’s working and the former Borussia Dortmund man has now started three games in a row for his new club.

Getting his head down and working hard has not only made the 27 year old better prepared for the Premier League, it has also shows a determination to work hard that will always help impress Jose.
