Tottenham to smash wage structure with star man to become highest paid player in club history with £120,000-a-week deal

Tottenham are reportedly set to offer striker Harry Kane a new contract which will see him become their biggest earner ever at £120,000-a-week.

The 23-year-old scored 25 Premier League goals last season, helping fire Spurs to a third-place finish after being in contention for the title for much of the campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino has since been busy securing the futures of key players with long-term contracts, with Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose all agreeing to new deals with the club this month.

According to The Express, Kane is about to be added to that list along with Erik Lamela and Jan Vertonghen, with the England international set to pen a new deal worth £120,000-a-week which runs until 2021.

Spurs have seen several of their top talents leave White Hart Lane for big moves over the years, with the likes of Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Michael Carrick all departing at the peak of their powers in recent times.

In turn, it’s no surprise that the club wish to dismiss that reputation of being a selling club and build something special this time round, and they’ve certainly been busy this month in making sure that key individuals have long-term agreements in place.

Kane, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, is arguably the most important piece of all, and with rumoured interest from Italy as well as around England, it will be important for Spurs to get an agreement in place and allow Pochettino and his men to then fully focus on the rest of the season.

It’s been another impressive start to a campaign for the north London outfit, as they currently sit in second place in the Premier League after six games, four points adrift of leaders Manchester City.

Further, it didn’t look as though they missed Kane too much in the win at Middlesbrough, but his presence will be a major factor in their success in years to come.
