Manchester United are ready to break the Premier League transfer record to sign Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba.

According to Sun Sport, Man United have met Juventus’ asking price for the 23-year-old midfielder – upping their offer from £60 million to £80 million in an effort to be the top contender for his contract.

Per the source, Man United manager Jose Mourinho has spoken to Pogba and discussed his vision for the team.

The proposed £80 million transfer fee would shatter the £59.7 million Premier League transfer record, which the Red Devils paid for Angel Di Maria in 2014. The world transfer record is currently held by Real Madrid, who paid just over £85 million for Gareth Bale in 2013.

The £200,000-a-week wages would reportedly double Pogba’s current wage with Juventus and would be among the highest in the Premier League.

Pogba tied a career-high in scoring eight goals while adding a Serie A best 12 assists as Juventus claimed their fifth straight Serie A title – and fourth with Pogba at midfield.
