Liverpool dealt transfer blow in pursuit of Simon Mignolet replacement

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has insisted that he is still happy at the club and has no intention of leaving this summer.

The German shot-stopper had featured regularly in the Champions League for the Spanish giants this season, but has been restricted in La Liga since his arrival in 2014 with Claudio Bravo being preferred between the posts domestically.

In turn, that has continued to raise questions about whether or not he is happy with his current situation in Spain, but it appears as though he isn’t frustrated with life at the Camp Nou.

“I am very happy and want to stay here, with the life I have,” he told Barca TV, as noted by The Daily Mail.

“You can never relax and always have to give everything. Both I, Claudio [Bravo] and Jordi [Masip] want to play and we work every week to do so.

“I think that this idea is also good for the team because we are always ready.”

The 24-year-old is likely to continue to play a role in the club’s pursuit of silverware this season, while he will also hope to be part of the Germany squad for Euro 2016 in France this summer.

As for Liverpool, recent reports have suggested that the Reds are considering adding competition for Simon Mignolet, who has come in for heavy criticism at times this season after making high-profile mistakes.

Whether or not Jurgen Klopp will look for an alternative to Stegen this summer remains to be seen, but to this point he has shown a lot of faith in his current shot-stopper and could yet decide that the Belgian international will keep his place heading into next season.
