Jose Mourinho explains scenario where Chelsea would be relegated…and it’s Diego Costa’s fault!

Jose Mourinho is always the first man to come to the defence of Diego Costa, but he wouldn’t be inclined to clone his star striker and put 10 more of them on his starting XI because Chelsea would lose every game – but not because of Costa’s ability.

According to the Telegraph, Mourinho explained that FA’s ‘desire to suspend’ Costa is so great that he wouldn’t be able to complete a game with all 11 players and therefore they would lose all the time.

“I think we would lose every game because the desire to suspend him is so big we wouldn’t have players to start the game,” Mourinho said. “So I’m happy we have only one and let him play until they decide to suspend him again.”

The remarks come nearly a week after Costa was suspended for violent conduct stemming from his behavior in a 2-0 win over Arsenal.

During the match, Costa committed such violations of league policy as grabbing the neck of an Arsenal player, shoving him to the ground, swatting him on the face and allegedly stepping on the toes of Gabriel Paulista, prompting the Arsenal star to back tap Costa’s shins.

During the match, referee Mike Dean issued Gabriel a red card for his actions, but just a single yellow card against Costa. Several days later, the FA suspended Costa for three matches.
