Liverpool in talks to make French international their eighth summer signing

Liverpool are in talks with PSG as Brendan Rodgers seeks to sign left-back Lucas Digne according to the Daily Mail.

Rodgers has enjoyed a very busy summer thus far and having already signed Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez, James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Nathaniel Clyne and Christian Benteke the Northern Irishman will hope to make French international Digne his eighth capture of the transfer window.

PSG boss Laurent Blanc signed Digne from Lille back in July 2013 but the 22-year-old hasn’t been a first team regular at the Parc des Princes.

Digne managed just 15 Ligue 1 starts in 2014/15 with Brazilian veteran Maxwell being more regularly used by Blanc in both Ligue 1 and Champions League action.

Digne has told Blanc that he wishes to leave PSG (via the Daily Mail) and the promising young full-back could provide Rodgers a stronger option on the left flank than either Alberto Moreno or Jose Enrique.

Rodgers moved to improve his options at right-back by signing England international Clyne after Liverpool elected to release Glen Johnson this summer (via Fox Sports).

Liverpool endured a miserable campaign in 2014/15 with the Merseyside outfit suffering greatly following the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Having fought hard for the Premier League title in 2013/14, finishing runners-up to winners Man City, Liverpool fell to a sixth place spot last term and as such will not be competing in the Champions League in the coming season.
