Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard gave post-match speech AFTER being sent off against Man Utd!

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard gave a rousing speech after Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United despite getting himself needlessly sent off moments after coming onto the pitch, according to the Mirror.

Gerrard started the game on the bench, but was introduced at half-time for the injured Adam Lallana – then found himself heading for an early bath just 38 seconds later. Just how the Liverpool skipper took it upon himself to give an inspirational team-talk after he cost his team three points and damaged their chances of a Champions League place is questionable.

The lack of discipline in the game could potentially be more damaging than the actual result as Martin Skrtel is set to join Steven Gerrard in serving a three match ban after the defender was charged for stamping on ‘keeper David de Gea.

“He spoke to the team after the game inside the dressing room and what was said exactly shall stay in there, but it shows who and what he is off the pitch,” Simon Mignolet said.

According to the report, Gerrard urged the squad that the fight for fourth was still on and that a fairytale sending off for the skipper was tantalisingly close as Liverpool face Blackburn for the chance to play Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
