Evans has been out with an ankle injury since United’s catastrophic 5-3 loss against Leicester City earlier this season, but finally looks set to return in tonight’s reserve game against Blackburn Rovers.

Man United revealed the news on their official Twitter account, claiming that the 26-year-old was in contention to feature.

The Red Devils centre-back may not be the answer to all Louis van Gaal’s problems, but it will certainly ease the burden on the Dutchman’s shoulders.

With Luke Shaw, Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, and Rafael all out injured, Evans’ return will be a much needed boost as United look to get their season back on track.

Despite getting the win against Arsenal on the weekend, the defensive trio of Paddy McNair, Tyler Blackett, and Chris Smalling looked incredibly vulnerable at times.
