Reds weighing up January move for striker Saido Berahino.

Liverpool are contemplating making a January move for in-form striker Saido Berahino from West Bromwich Albion, report the Mail, despite the fact that the West Midlands club rate their prized asset at around £25 million and are unlikely to sell him without a fight.

The report suggests that, ideally, the move would be part-financed by a deal moving flop striker Mario Balotelli on in January, but Liverpool could consider moving for Berahino if they are unable to persuade another club to take the hapless Italian international off their hands.

Berahino is behind only Chelsea striker Diego Costa and Manchester City star Sergio Aguero in the Premier League goalscoring charts and scored again this weekend, slamming home a penalty at West Brom came from two goals down to draw with Crystal Palace at The Hawthorns.

Quick, skillful and a fine finisher, Berahino looks every inch a future England star and would fit in well with a young and talented, if underperforming, Liverpool side, but as with any exciting young English talent the Reds are going to have to pay through the nose for the privilege of bringing Burundi-born striker Berahino to Anfield, following hot on the heels of huge summer investments on the likes of Balotelli, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Lazar Markovic.
