Tottenham Hotspur Ladies got the cherry on top of the cake this week, receiving two major league awards before their new season begins in a week and a half. On the back of their historic season that saw them win a triple and promotion to the second division of English women’s football, Spurs Ladies also received the Club of the Year award for the FA Women’s Premier League.

In addition, Spurs Ladies manager Karen Hills took home the FA Women’s Premier League Manager of the Year award.

It was truly an amazing season to be a Spurs Ladies fan as they had a historically good season. Spurs not only blazed through the FAWPL South league, going at one point 27 games unbeaten, they also won the Boux Avenue and FAWPL Cups, before beating Blackburn Rovers to achieve promotion to the Women’s Super League 2.

Now, Spurs Ladies face an even bigger challenge: competing in the second division of English women’s football for the first time ever. The leap from the FAWPL to the WSL is big, while it’s not likely they will replicate their dominant league performances of 2016-17, they will hopefully have enough talent and drive to make some noise against some very good competition.

Spurs Ladies’ first match in the WSL 2 is Sunday, September 24 at Durham Women FC. They host Aston Villa Ladies on October 1 at Cheshunt Stadium. The full league schedule is listed below.

Edit: A previous version of this article stated that Karen Hills won the FA Women’s Premier League as the “FA Women’s Super League.” We regret the error.
