So, I’m aware some significant things may have happened in world football over the past 24 hours that I’m going to need to be sensitive in discussing. In the name of preserving everyone’s feelings, can we just collectively agree that all international football is a colossal waste of everyone’s time and emotional energy? Hoddle Aussie contingent, exclude yourself from this conversation please if you’d be so kind.

It’s the most famous Spurs bromance of all time that doesn’t involve anybody with a name that begins with ‘D’- Kevin Wimmer has claimed in a (faintly sad) interview with German paper the Express that his friendship with Son Heung-Min hasn’t been disrupted by his summer transfer to Stoke.
Elsewhere in football...
Aside from the developments elsewhere that we’re not talking about- here’s a little update on how some of the European sides got on in World Cup qualifying last night.
Pivoting back to club football- this is going to come as a shock to a lot of you, I know, but some people would argue that Chelsea don’t use their youth system particularly well as a pathway to the first team. One of those people is attacking midfield prospect Charly Musonda, who appeared to lash out at the club’s hierarchy in an Instagram post yesterday.
Casting an eye down to the lower leagues- many people (myself included, I’ll admit) were a little saddened when the fan consortium that had basically saved Portsmouth from the threat of extinction announced over summer that they were selling up to former Disney CEO Michael Eisner. That’s not to say the club’s new owner doesn’t deserve a shot at continuing the great progress made under fan stewardship though, and in this interview with BBC Sport he says lots of promising things about fan involvement and respecting traditions.
