Manchester City already have a lot of depth in the midfield position, but if a good option becomes available it would be stupid not to try and go for it. That’s what happening now with Steven N’Zonzi.

According to a report from Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, N’Zonzi has decided to leave Sevilla and his entourage has already informed the club about his decision. The former Stoke City midfielder has strong interest from Juventus, who wish to add more depth to their midfield situation, but two more clubs have entered the race.

The report also says that Arsenal and Manchester City have made “extensive inquiries” about the player, and if the deal with Juventus doesn’t come to fruition, N’Zonzi could be set for a Premier League return.

Now to the price: Pedulla reports that Sevilla are willing to sell N’Zonzi for a package of 35 million euros plus 5 million in performance bonuses. Arsenal and City would be willing to pay that much, and with two weeks until the end of the window, we would have a resolution on this particular rumor very soon.

N’Zonzi is a powerful and technical defensive midfielder who would be a very good addition to the City midfield and a replacement to Yaya Touré in the future. It looks like an unnecessary signing right now given the lack of depth at center-back and striker, but it’s an opportunity the market has presented. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to take the opportunity and sign a very good player for a reasonable price.
