John Stones ruled out of Man City's FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal with injury

Manchester City face off against Arsenal on Sunday at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup semi-final, and they'll have to do it without a key first team player.

City defender John Stones has been ruled out for Sunday's match with a muscular injury, manager Pep Guardiola announced during his pre-match press conference. Stones could be back in time for the local Derby against Manchester United next Thursday, but he's still a fitness doubt for that match.

According to Pep, Stones picked up the injury in training last week during preparations for the game against Southampton, and even though Guardiola didn't specify what the injury was, it sounds like a minor hamstring issue, which normally takes 2-3 weeks to heal.

After a tough start, Stones has undoubtedly been one of City's top performers this season. The 22-year-old has had to deal with constant pressure due to his price tag and the unbelievable pressure put on by the media on young English players, but he's really become a reliable presence in the City back line in the last few months.

The good news for City is that Vincent Kompany is healthy and is expected to play against Arsenal and United, and since the captain makes everyone around him better, City will be able to cope Stones' absence with Nicolas Otamendi and Aleksandar Kolarov available for selection.
