Mohamed Elneny speaks out on Arsenal future & Champions League hopes

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has been discussing a number of topics, including his future and the Gunners’ hunt for Champions League football, in a recent interview.

Elneny has been a bit-part player for Arsenal up until the last four games, starting just one Premier League game.

As a result, it was expected that the Egyptian would depart north London this summer when his contract runs out.

However, following an injury to Thomas Partey, Elneny has been handed a starting berth in the Gunners’ last four league ties. Arsenal have won all four, with Elneny impressing in every game.

Now, after winning four on the bounce, Arsenal are in the drivers seat when it comes to securing 4th place, which could earn them Champions League football – something Elneny has discussed recently:

“Everyone is focused on achieving the club’s objective which is to qualify for the Champions League,” Elneny told beIN Sports after the Leeds game.

“The club will speak with the players regarding contract renewals in due course,” the Egyptian responded.

Finally, on the game against Leeds, Elneny said: “We missed a lot of chances in the first half. We wanted to score a third goal but we are happy to get the three points and to win is the most important thing for the team at the moment. “I think we controlled the game and did not allow Leeds any chances other than the goal they scored.”
