Crystal Palace became the first team in Premier League history to lose their first five games without scoring as Roy Hodgson's tenure began with a 1-0 defeat to Southampton.
|We're lucky at the moment as we have competition for places in that area of the field,
I know how hard it is to coach teams, because I'm a coach too,
said Palace boss Roy Hodgson after the game. He gets a lot of credit for that, because he deserves it.
I'm frustrated, because we created enough chances to win the game, but not too disappointed,
said Hodgson. When teams defend as well as Newcastle did, they will feel they deserved the bit of luck needed to get a point.
They were very well organised and disciplined and it wasn't easy to get through them,
said Hodgson. But I did think we did enough to get the goal that would have won the game, but the thing that pleased me was that games like that can often go against you.
